Opened in 2016, this dazzler restores one of the city’s first skyscrapers, built in 1881. Over the swellegant bar is a soaring nine-story atrium, with a pyramidal glass skylight; next to it are two restaurants, both from celeb restaurateurs: Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio (guests also get room service from Colicchio) and French master Daniel Boulud. Rooms are carved out of former offices, so each has a different shape and size, but all share quietly elegant furnishings with dashes of whimsy—a chinoiserie lamp in the shape of a dog here, a royal blue area rug there, perhaps a velvet couch. Set at the top of the Financial District, it’s within walking distance of both Chinatown and the 9/11 Museum and Monument.
