Stores in Guanajuato keep the usual hours -- Monday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and 4 to 8pm. The Mercado Hidalgo, or municipal market, is one of the most orderly in Mexico. You can browse on the main floor or watch the action from the raised walkway that encircles it. Aside from food and vegetable stalls, there is a lot of pottery and ceramic ware.
